#1; no deal, US govt. bonds are dead, T-1-month bills get redeemed, loads of USD heading somewhere else ( = long XXX/USD ).
#2; deal, bond market is saved, govt. employees start spending their pay, QE5 or no taper so loads of USD heading somewhere else.

The only question is, how long until something sways the market?

No it is not the correlation between usd/chf and eur/usd is not correct on the 24 hours time. either usd/chf should pull back below 91 or euro/usd should pull back towards 1.3510

ON the 5 minute chart they are.....bouncing and I am reaping the rewards. +40 on both the eu and gu. Who the hell said anything about correlation. Price is bouncing off the pivots.......that is all. When I say this, I'm including pivots and support/resistance lines.

this news was leaked for sure. and not like 30 minutes beforehand like the GB data earlier today. this news was leaked to wall street insiders about a week ago - go check your S&P daily charts out. markets are not controlled by "news" releases anymore (that theory is akin to reading the entrails of dead animals to forecast future market movements, something like voodoo science). forget all that tech. analysis training you did a few years ago, it's useless now. The only thing that remains constant is that the big players with big bucks rule the markets. the difference has come in where robot traders employed by marketmakers, bankers, exchanges, institutions, etc. are running the show now. when gold tanked $25 a week or so back, why did other commodities e.g. oil, silver, and (I think) even copper fall quickly thereafter? The answer is obvious - pre-programmed algorithms. and why do most stock indices with cash markets open during the london session seem to move in lockstep? obviously there are leads and lags otherwise it would be too easy for retail traders to arbitrage.

and the S&P is near all time highs - wow wow - the S&P got beaten to it again today (not for the first time this year) by a little known African stock exchange, and not at the expense of currency devaluation - in fact the currency gained vs. USD today.

hey ho...u r fecked if u are long and just as fecked if you are short...widen the stops...we have a major down trend coupled with a current up trend, (against the dollar,) price is only behaving like the economy. Every western economy is as bad as each other - so news will be an excuse to move the market, then another excuse will move it right back the other way, short term trading is a lottery at the mo, I'm for tops and bottoms only, yeah u might get the odd runaway day, but mostly price ekes in and out current range...Cue a new trend - as by the time I've been savaged to death with tight stops, only to see price spring right back up/down, and had a day or two of getting it right/wrong - sure as eggs is eggs, the MM/big boys will have seen that too....ergo lets take price out of that basket and feck you all over again...for a day or two...need deep pockets and a bi-polar personality...

They will do it again after the Xmas break and again after that until people stand up and fight back. Having seen Rumsfeldt messing about in the past, I believe anything of these politicians. I could hear the "pay less taxes, control spending" brigade ramping-up the pressure; in between the posturing that is. I fear that one day we shall all be shafted by somebody like Boner.
