Having read the report, it is all data dependent as to whether to taper and with July/August numbers coming in below THEIR expectations, they decided not to taper albeit with one dissident. If numbers do continue to improve they will start taper light and the reduction will start of small.

not good for brokers, not enough noise to take out many stops. minutes do not mention tapir so we don't know if octaper, no tapir, detaper or what will happen to the tapir. so we go back to ceiling watch for forward guidance.

Anilamil is right.
Last FOMC was on Sep 18. Gold moved from 129x to 136x in one day. I remember exactly because I also made nice profit on that day in gold trading. The FOMC result was no tapering.
But two days after that, the price went all the way down because Bullard's statement.

Nope I actually called it 700 pips worth. If you open a trade 1 standard lot and gold move 1296 to 1366 you will get profit 7000 $ . From that aspect I called it 700 pips worth. But according to you it should
70 000$ profit whic is absurd....

It goes like this. First you stay sidelines. Then it raises high and you don't buy because you lost the move so again sidelines. Then it goes a little higher and you decide it's on absurd levels and sell it with a medium SL. To your surprise and dismay it goes against you so you widen SL and short to average. A microsecond later Mr.Margin calls you on your private phone...

Yes but you have mentioned 7000 pips. Actually there is a slight difference in Gold's pips. Gold moved from say 1296 to 1366 . That moves actually 700 pips worth ....
Ignored
Pips is the smallest unit price in the pairs traded.
Because we have XAUUSD traded in 2 decimals, for example $1310,22, then 0.01 is equal to 1 pip.
It means that $1.00 gold price equals to 100 pips.
And $70.00 gold price equals 7,000 (seven thousands) pips.
Anilamil was right.

Pips in gold trading is not the same with forex trading.
Since forex usually has 4 or 5 digits decimal, than 1 pip in forex equal to $0.0001

About lot:
1 regular lot in gold trading equals to 100 troy ounces (toz).
1 Mini lot = 10 ounces
1 Mikro lot = 1 ounces.
So if you trade 1 regular lot and price move $1, than you got profit / loss $1/toz x 100 toz = $100
Price goes $70, you'll get profit or loss $70/toz x 100 toz = $7.000

Maybe that's all not too important. Not as much important as knowledge of other technicals / indicators / trading systems, but I think it's better if we know basic things like that before we trade, especially when we communicate amongst traders.
Just googling it and learn from many free sites.
Cheers and happy trading

Hello everyone,
After news, we got nice shake out bar on ultra high volume on EUR/USD which means that down corrective phase may ended.
I placed Fibonacci expansion to find potential D point (end of corrective phase) and i got FE 100 % at price 1.3499 and FE 161.8 % at price 1.3433.We also got decreasing in volume which is sign that this may be small corrective phase. After testing of these FE levels, we may see starting of bullish movements and testing of level 1.3710 and 1.3800.Selling this pair looks risky so watch for buying opportunities after corrective phase.Corrective phase is usually trap for non infromed traders to start selling but since we are in strong bullish trend with a good volume background for the futher up, any selling is risky....
Wish you good trading ....

Best Regards,
Petar

Post #84 sounds pretty sound to me and the chap that posted it appears to look at things objectively. He certainly is an example of a trader that does not engage in the dubious past time of "fundamental analysis" - that voodoo approach akin to reading the entrails of dead animals to tell the future. Nice One!

Yes mr. wise I know that but talking to basic to the newbie when you tell them gold moves 7000 pips in favour of you they think they get 70 000$ profit. But the fact that they will get 7000$ Profit. So all I was saying that it moves was 700 pips worth move....

I don't think so. When you talk about pips move then it is about the pips count, not about the profit. Anilamil talked about the pips moved in the gold price during last fomc and it is true that it was 7000 pips. The profit depends on the lot size that you take. I think you are the one who subjectively relate the pips with the profit in forex in your mind. I don't trade gold, i trade currency, but i understand when anilamil talked about 7000 pips.. i will be confused if you say it was 700 pips because it means it only moved by 7 dollars... so let's just use the standard pips counting... cheers

So according to you you will get 7000*10 $ profit if you open a trade in 1 standard lot and gold moves in favour of you about 1296 to 1366 . That's fascinating...

Sorry, I disagree with you.
Correct is correct, wrong is wrong because if we are talking about UNITS, we have to be EXACT.
You can't say 1 m is the same with 1 km.
1 pip in gold trading is EXACTLY $0.01 gold price. Nothing more nothing less. That's what every professional trader in the world knows. No matter you say in Sydney, Tokyo, London, or New York, every trader shall understand instantly if you said 7,000 pips of gold trading then it's $70 in gold price that you mean. It has nothing to do with profit or loss you have.
It's up to anybody if they want to learn to speak in the same "international forex language" correctly or they only want to defend their own opinion, which is totally wrong and sounds "weird" to professional.
I just want to share this basic thing, not to look for who is right or who is wrong. It's up to everyone to take it or dump it. There's no advantage for me to force anyone to agree with me even though I know I'm 100% right.
Cheers and happy trading....

I can give you much more example.
I was trying to tell you that newbie will be confused when they see that in spite of 7000 pips gain they made only 700 worth pips profit. For example Gold move 1300 to 1370 . You open buy in 1 standard lot. That means profit will be 700* 10 not 7000*10..
By the way you seem very polite to me. But RSD and SHELIKA remind me Empty vessel sounds much...

My oh my they still don't get it. They still hook their star to" New Keynesian macroeconomy" and now want factor the failure factor in " important labor market frictions". When will they realize that Keynesian economics does not work. It interferes with the free market. I guess they just can't shake they liberal underpinning they got at Princeton or some other liberal institution of brain washing.
