    Orders for U.S. durable goods fell more than forecast in July after three months of increases, indicating manufacturing will be slow to strengthen. Bookings (DGNOCHNG) for goods meant to last at least three years decreased 7.3 percent, the most since August 2012, after a 3.9 percent gain in June, the Commerce Department said today in Washington. The median forecast of economists surveyed by Bloomberg called for a 4 percent drop. Orders waned for aircraft and capital goods such as computers and electrical equipment. Eur short at 1,3391, added to S&P long at 1662.

I remember once (a year or so ago), when unemployment and adp was a miss (and a big one) and market made +1,5% ... learned a lesson then never to think i know where its gonna go due to good/bad news...

us housing sector is solid. this is not enough to stop tapering.
Am confused bout oil, bad data means no taper so it shud go up on one hand but on the other durable goods falls signalling weak demand which shud make it go down....aah wt to do....a little help plz.

what ta(m)pering...how long do u ppl intend to think qe is gonna be tampered or stopped...IT WILL NEVER BE STOPPED and a taper wont produce drat. If I were fed, i would increase it to 110B/month

That irony is actually not irony...there are printing presses which work constantly for 2 years now...never turned them off.

after finished summer there should be bad news in Housing, NFP, Consumer Confidence, PPI.
USD will weak must.
Only stop of easing can save USD for decline that time.
A good indication of market sentiment was last week's "bad" US data, and today's durables under performance - dollar selling spiked for 2-3 hrs, and then everything came back where it was in the Europe's morning session.

Participants still weights the "septapering" more than occasional data releases...
just big boys not wanna dollar bearish so if you realize that still since last two weeks dollar negative data cant push dollar back ward just for 1 or 2 hour then again come in level its indicate that in coming days dollar make a strong come back maybe first week of September we see it.
I realize it very well my friend - I have two cable shorts respectively at 1.5680 and 1.5620 ;-). Will keep them at least until 1.5100 support is challenged.

good i think you cut it before bank rates in Thursday bank rate push up cables toward 1.56 again so cut it and sell again after rate decided
I do not go day trading - these are 4-8 week horizon trades with S/L at 1.5750.

If you're trading decent size and holding for such long periods, have you done a comparison of futures v spot?

Still not so proficient in the financial markets. I have a lot to explore yet, but time is always short and I would like to get a good feeling of a financial instrument in order to use it.
