China is not due a 'hard landing'

Of course China's growth is slower, it is slower for everyone. However, all the 'doom and gloom' which is trying to be rammed down our throats by the likes of bloomberg and CNBC et al, has to be taken with a pinch of salt. China does not have, and never has had, an 'open book' policy regarding it's economic policy, foreign policy or fiscal policy.

Those preaching (or wishing for) doom and gloom in China are making their judgments without all the facts and as such discredit themselves.

China will land hard, there's no doubt about that. Their development model and stiff central regulation make that certain. Just wait.

I spend a lot of time in China and compared to a few years ago, there is lots of credit tightening and an obvious slowdown in development. This is to be expected though, and Realjumper is spot on - the media will try and paint a picture of "The Western economies are in trouble, but so is everyone else".

8% GDP growth every year is unsustainable and what we are seeing is the natural cycles of capitalism. Expansion and contraction. It's healthy. Western economies really need to accept the contraction as part of the long term cycles - but the short term political cycles we have, won't let that happen. Voters have short memories.

Rightly or wrongly, China knows which party will be in power 10 years from now and it does allow them to act in the best economic interests of the country.
