Instead of expanding assets purchasing to see the yen strong everytime they do that, wasn't it better use those trillions to rise usdjpy to 100 like wat snb had done and everytime it go to 100 another intervention and intervention, market doesn't understand other than interventions. it took long for usdjpy to go back to 77 after the 75.50 intervention to 79, with 100 a ig obstacle the pair will no more see the 90s, BOJ the only solution is intervention intervention and intervention

Thats what I was thinking, especially as it started to drop before the news was released. Big money pushing it down to remove weak longs, get the price cheaper, get people in short, then they can push it up without resistance. Not saying that's whats happening (time will tell) but it wouldn't surprise me in the least.

US Fed is printing 40 Billion per month, for the JPY to remain weaker they will have to compete with US printing press, the market does not believe Japan will be able to match the weakening tactics of the US long term, so it is a world where each country wants and needs a weaker currency than its trading partners.

If you're going to try and use fundamentals to explain a 15 minute price drop, you'll have to also question why those same fundies didn't stop USDJPY rising from 78 to 80+ over the past couple of weeks.

I don't trade fundamentals, the H4 has a Butterfly pattern, the MACD histogram is showing divergence. Friday closed with a engulfing candle covering 3 previous candles, so I took the high 80.378 and the low 79.557 and set a pending at the 61.8 Fib retrace. My pending was hit with a 10 lot and I took $8.5K from a very quick 15 minute move.

I thank the market and move on, for me the AUDCAD is looking interesting.

the news is boj increased 11 trillion yen to its asset purchase program
91 trillion is calculated from all boj program (including asset purchase program) - before = 80, now = 80+11 = 91
66 trillion is calculated only from asset purchase program
before = 55 now = 55 + 11 = 66

The only safe-haven currency left in the block is JPY....so BOJ has to print a lot more to affect the value of YEN and I wonder why BOJ is not doing it. The recent weakness of JPY was rumored that BOJ would surprise the market by a BIG bazooka new Yen printout but BOJ came out with a water toy gun.
Anyway, risk currencies may be sold out in the next couple of days..so if you are LONG on eur, aud and cad..it is time to take your money and run!

Just reminder, when Tsunami hit Japan, markets rallied for two days and on the third day, all major currencies dropped on average 250 pips against JPY, there is nothing the market could cheer about, serious destruction along US East Coast...so I don't know why European markets are rallying, I am just staying put....

I am glad to find another trader that tracks CAD. I am keeping my fingers crossed on CAD finding some strength soon against the USD and Yen.

I have started to attack AUDCAD my TP1 1.0275 & TP2 1.01, the further it goes up the better the trade will be for me. (negative leverage is the key because know one can pick tops and bottoms)

I think Mr. Market at times pick on a currency to whip! Later month AUD was rejected as if Aussies were sinking into the ocean and now its CAD; CAD is molested throughout the month of October. Canada as compares with eurozone is more like heaven on Earth, but why CAD is rejected in October? The fear of US Fiscal cliff is for all risk currencies...so I am just waiting for CAD to get her mojo back then "I AM ALL IN!"

CAD Oil is expensive to refine (more like sludge) so the Oil price needs to be well above $80 per barrel for the currency to perform well. But Oil is also due a correction up to the $90 area, my bet would be if you see Oil gain then CAD will follow.
