  • U.S. durable-goods orders jump 9.9% in September

    From marketwatch.com

Orders for durable goods soared 9.9% in September, mainly because of a rebound in aircraft bookings, the Commerce Department reported Thursday. Economists polled by MarketWatch had expected an 8.3% increase. Excluding transportation, new orders rose a much smaller 2.0%. Core durable-goods orders - demand for capital goods excluding defense and aircraft - were unchanged last month after rising a scant 0.2% in August. Shipments of core capital goods, a number used to help calculate quarterly gross domestic product, fell 0.3% last month. It declined in all three months of the third quarrter. The drop in durable-goods ... (full story)

CFNAI is flat - that's actually not a bad number means = trend growth. but ... last month revised down to -1.17 which = deep recession.

what the data release for USD, I doubt if those info are fully authenticated....I don't know but what I feel these data are somehow made positive because of the election ahead.....May be many found my statement a stupid one, but the fact is big boys are the biggest foul player and their wrong doing is beyond our imagination......these data all are adulterated in order to show the US economy is doing very well, and this need to present for building a good image ahead of election....

very obvious ! and right ...

gold will NOT go down deep in world market , if US people want to sell on their data base ... let them sell !

many investment institutions waited this trench to buy , so it is this .

to make gold lose its glitter , china will have to cultivate gold it in their farm's , and sell it to US ..

till then , enjoy bears !!!!!!!!

the market movers seem to be just sitting in the sidelines.

we really need a big investor, buyer, or seller stepping in to induce a big change either up or down.

any of the reports in the last few days has been able to make only a small impact on gold. the changes have been good enough only for quick scalping, and not of much interest to a swing trader!

india is moving into the gold-buying season. physical demand should help give it a boost.

i don't think so. the way it is moving up and down within a s mall range, i wouldn't rule out a dip again to somewhere near 1700. i think it's quite possible that we may touch that level again. today's low was 1701.

i would recommend waiting. and i'll be happy to given you company.

we need to see multiple dips to ensure that 1700 (or 1710, as you suggest) is a solid support, before we begin to go long.

yes, that's right. we can already see the decline in a zig-zag pattern.

from what i can analyze and see, it would touch test the 1700 support again today.

fall it would be - back to the 1700 level, but in a slow and steady way.

a quick fall "in next 1 hour" would have been possible only if there were to be some critical report being released. without such a trigger, the fall would be only bit by bit.

after a every small fall, one can see scalpers getting into quick buying. and that's slowing down the process of the fall.

i suppose, we'll need to wait till the day-end to get near the 1700 level.

i suppose you are resuming our conversation about what i referred to as the big fish and the small fries!

there's a lot that happens behind closed doors in those boardrooms! and there's little can we do, except wait for their moves, watch the price movements, and then react!

traders who are in long positions from 1700 level are likely to close and book profits. and that'll bring gold down further in the next two hours.

as a community of small traders, we may large in numbers, but make up only a very tiny part of the total trading volume.

if in the morning tomorrow, the panel of investment experts were to see 1700 as a good price to dump a stock of gold, fearing that the price might fall to below 1650s, you'll suddenly find it's price come tumbling down. and you'll keep wondering what brought the big fall.

there was actually one such instance recently - it involved a cartel of banks (which included hsbc).

yes, that's precisely what my analysis says too.

we have all been convinced that there will be more and more reports that will project that USD is strengthening. and this will continue to happen up to the elections.

and with USD being shown as strengthening, gold will continue its decline.

there are all kinds of books out there - from those for greenhorns to those for the pros.

but what works the best, i think are those various short videos you'd find on youtube. it's easy o search for them.

staying in touch with topical developments helps. this is especially so, if you are into swing trading and need to learn how fundamentals impact the prices.

That has a very low chance. You could see the large volume of buying, yesterday and then today again, that happens the moment it gets close to 1700. And they end up pushing it back up again and again.

A large majority of traders have set buy offers at 1700. And there is also a large number of already open long trades beginning at prices above the level of 1710.

When traders saw it touch 1700 and then bounce back to across the next resistance level of 1710, they saw it as a clear sign of reversal. And many jumped into opened long trades.

whenever i have tried to predict the market, it has always behaved against me but taking the risk of failure in my analysis, i feel that "the powers that be" have again brought the market closed to 1700 mark only to breach it this time. Being God-fearing and kind hearted, the only want this process to be as painless as possible so that fewer people suffer.

If market had to reverse, it would have reversed right after the FOMC statement when it has said to continue buying 40B worth of bonds.

This is an analysis of an amateur worth less than 2 cents.

even if you look at the highs of today, they are lower lows and lower highs, if i am not wrong, which again is a sign that market is weak.

Further, after strong US data what justification (read hope) you have to expect market to rise from here.
