  • ECB's Liikanen warns policymakers on speaking out on euro crisis

    Policymakers should consider what they say before commenting on the euro's future to avoid creating market jitters that could enflame the crisis, European Central Bank Governing Council member Erkki Liikanen was quoted as saying. "The message on the euro's irreversibility is so important that one should not create uncertainty that will start to live a life of its own," he said in an interview with Finnish daily Aamulehti, published on Wednesday. Earlier this month Finnish Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja told Britain's Daily Telegraph that officials had prepared for the possible collapse of the euro zone. German ... (full story)

I agree with above comments. The ECB has got a major problem, and it does not have a plan. Neither do the EZ politicians have a plan. So what can they say - nothing. So like the proverbial ostrich, they bury their heads in the sand.

So the plan is to not talking and waiting till crisis will be over. Question is how long market will wait. In all this crisis the worst is time. Each day they are producing debt intrests and for 2 years no idea how to pay it. No growth, they will need more debt, and so on, and so on. After Spain will be France.

so far nothing concrete has been done since the Draghi speech of doing whatever it can. What is whatever? Hot air can make euro go up
Empty talk makes euro problems disappear? Waiting for the balloon to burst and short big time. I suppose that is the strategy

Funny. I agree with you. They will do everything to keep euro. Simple question, what Greece need to get rid of their problem first ? Devaluate currency. The same need EZ. Rates to zero, and weak euro. When ECB start buying bonds (if ever) it's nothing more like printing, european QE. Week after they start buying you will see freefall. Draghi warned bonds speculators, not currency market. How weak currency can in this situation destroy EU ? Making export better ?

I read the market to make the monies - I am not a Euro Minister or banker - I do not care about right or wrong. Just the current market sentiment. Without emotional baggage I got no ego trip - without ego trip, my decisions remain rational. If I detect it going down I sell and up I buy. Most of the time I come to make comments to let others know there is another way and also to remind myself about how I used to be before I saw the light. What does it matter to you but your position in the end. But never base your positions on type of logic you have outlined. Trade with the market in market time. That's what you need to do - not engage in fruitless conjectures.
