  • Lord Rothschild takes £130m bet against the euro

    From telegraph.co.uk

Lord Rothschild has taken a near-£130m bet against the euro as fears continue to grow that the single currency will break up. The member of the banking dynasty has taken the position through RIT Capital Partners, the £1.9bn investment trust of which he is executive chairman. The fact that the former investment banker, a senior member of the Rothschild family, has taken such a view will be seen as a further negative for the currency. The latest omen follows news in The Daily Telegraph late last week that the government of Finland is already preparing for the euro’s break-up. RIT, which Lord Rothschild has led ... (full story)

In the longer term the statistics state that all currency unions eventually come to an end. Odds are 100% on an EU breakup if you look over data of currency unions in the past. None have ever survived! LoL!!! I doubt if his bet will pay off big for a year or two... But, according to my statistical odds analysis... At some point the odds are it will pay out big for him.

The only question is when? Rothschild can hold position for a very long time. He won't care about little 500-1000 pip sucker rallies...

I agree with the news being weird - truly out of place. I read elsewhere Soros and some other rich person increased their positions as well (can't recall the direction though) but since it did not make a mark probably up (but do not quote me).

Just remember, any loss that his fund makes is highly likely to prove tax deductible and from worldwide holdings it may be tax deductible in several tax jurisdictions simultaneously. Banksters have the remarkable ability to get politicians to loot the taxpayer to make good their losses.

It's RIT, they are not used to take 10 pips, rather 10 figures. They are buying and wait till TP. Anather thing is that they can wait year for this, and next month we can retest 1.3
All In All there is one direction for EUR.

That's true. But it's news from Rothshild not Goldman Sachs. They have enough money to lose. What they can't lose is the legend of Rothshild Family. I don't think so they want to cheat the retails. If they want, they can do this without involving familly name.

It's the same thing as saying the Telegraph never prints a false story - Every single body in this business lose money not once or twice but several times over. No one should ever run scared of a name - I say they are more likely than anything else to lose money - at least if the parameters of their bet is defined around the next monthly bar. Hell the Euro has bottomed and it don't take much to see that.

Well said Moaf, the legend, of Amschel, making a fortune on gold trading by arbing Paris vs. London prices using pigeon post. One of the most entertaining stories in the history of banking.

The article never said the Rothschilds had a short position. They probably have a portfolio of nifty derivatives (we could say, financial weapons of mass destruction) and their net euro denominated exposure is £130 m. We all know the banks' negotiating abilities, you can bet your bitty they will get out in profit even if euro would rally in the future.

These stories always come out well after the big move is over.... a few months ago, big names were buying gold.... after it topped.

If Rothschild was making a serious bet on a direction for Euro they certainly wouldn't be publishing it here.
Besides... 130M ?? Post up a few yards if you want to make the headlines.

He probably just bought Gold with the money and called it a short.

The big secret is to commit your assets in just 3 trades-accounts.

1) 15% on a single sort trade like they do from 1.2330. Account's risk-stop loss at most 500 pips if it goes north and reward is somewhere 1.18 - 1.16 like charts say.
2) 35% on a single buy from 1.2250 aiming 1.2750 at most and SL anywhere before 1.075 where account blows
3) Hold 50% to throw it for those trend guaranteed 10-100-1000+ pips below 1.20 or after a stop loss hit to sort again.

Do it and go for vacations, find a new girl, get a life, stop whining for animal traps and ranges, and let Rothschild and market do the rest.

May be I got the wrong mentality -but I came into this game to grow as big as anyone has ever gotten to be in it. I never forget the lines of a song "the biggest man you ever did see was once a baby". I do not hero worship and believe with evidence and determination - I am on my way. I only started late that's all.

Maybe we have The Third World War right now. The war between Jewish banks and German government.

Jews want to have power in Europe and use bond interests as tool in order to achieve this. Germany strong economy is also big power tool that allows Germany to dominate other countries in Europe.

The question is. Who will win?

ok - that would then be a 13 yard position, but no one gets 100:1 on institutional trade sizes. It's just a 130M position which is a few pips at best and rumor news at 'even better'.

Euro bottomed at just above 1.20... now consolidating

Rothschild is one of the families owning all the Central Banks (= printing money out of thin air and lending it for big interests to all the idiots born in fear and living in fear without one idea of selfesteem and ready to give all their energy and work and money to these gangsters).
So, if this 130m pound bet is true, that means: old Lord is bored and want to play.

Looks like the incredibly low level of the VIX is kicking in - but in a strangely disjointed way - not the way one would imagine it would play out especially at this time - but then it is a mathematically chaotic system - the markets.

Planning is critical to successful trades - but important to planning is having the tools and skills to analyze the market critically and then base your subsequent actions on dynamic reading of the market around the base case - here's an example of how I saw the market early in the week - http://www.forexfactory.com/news.php...13#post5941033. Seems to be playing out well with retooling now completed. Of course the other aspect is to have a contingency backup should things not pan out.

PS: The point here is simply to minimize distracting items like the news item in question when it is clear that it has no lasting impact on overall play - especially if you are not a day trader and hold longer term aspirations.

made much of his fortune at the end of the Napoleonic wars, when they had foreknowledge of the victory of England and launched a market rumor that Napoleon had won the war. With this purse fell almost to zero, and the Rothschilds bought virtually the entire economy of England. When he was given the real news - that England had won the war - the Rothschilds emerged as the richest family in Europe.

Here is the truth, nothing but the truth...EUR will eventually complete its cycle down to 1.1xxxx. When?...this I can't tell or guess, but play safe. Go long, and cut any profit (no matter how small it is), punting in mind that the headwinds are towards sought! Good Luck for all!
