  • Why VIX Is So Low, And What Comes Next?

    From zerohedge.com

VIX is nothing more than the market's implied 'factor' that makes the supply-demand of options prices fit with model-based parameters. In simple terms it measures the market's expectations for volatility (up or down moves - not just down) going forward. Empirically it has a relationship with realized volatility - how much the market actually moved up or down relative to what VIX expected - and professionals will use various 'scalping' techniques to lock in day-to-day gains from the difference between the market's actual movement and what options prices expected. To wit: the current expectations of central bank ... (full story)

how about cuz it's mid-August, and traders on vacation don't trade from wireless laptops...oh, and volatility decreases in bull markets.

Ignored
Those points and the need for the real decisions to start emerging from the ECB, FED and others and then we see how the big boys feel about things. It's when there is real tension that the VIX really shows it's mettle.

VIX is traded in low , resulting a correction is expected in coming week, its time to take position in VIX or can do the reverse of that in other underlying stocks. VIX can correct up to 3 to 4% ...... probably it can be a pause in near week or month .

I went long VIX about a year or more back when it was at around 15. It was up 11% the next day. I have been trading from a wireless laptop for about 5 years (no land-line here). My connection speed is (just) fast enough, and I don't have have any more feed problems than the traders with landlines, it is usually the platforms that go down. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think VIX is at a 5-yr low. Like any contemplated speculative trade, there is always a time to say that "I missed the boat".
