    The Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee today voted to maintain the official Bank Rate paid on commercial bank reserves at 0.5%. The Committee also voted to increase the size of its asset purchase programme, financed by the issuance of central bank reserves, by £50 billion to a total of £325 billion. In the United Kingdom, the underlying pace of recovery slowed during 2011, with activity falling slightly during the final quarter. If you guys could simply stop panicking and take a mo to understand what's happened, you'd save yourselves a lot of stress! Analysts predicted the MPC would hold interest rates steady at 0.5%, and print extra money to the tune of £50bn, taking the total of money printered to £325bn. The MPC has held interest rates steady at 0.5%, and printed an extra £50bn, which means they did AS PREDICTED, i.e. no better or worse than predicted so it's not bad news per se. because it was already accurately predicted by analysts. Also, if you totally disregard technical analysis in favour of fundamental analysis, you'll struggle to become successful traders imho.

1/ Never trade unless you're at the screen.
2/ Know you're loss limit but tell no one. i.e don't put in a stop loss on your trade
3/Know what profit you're prepared to take but tell no one i.e. don't put in take profit on trade
4/ Always have enough margin to cover 1000 pip move

The UK are printing money to allow themselves to pay off their debts (just think what would happen if we could all do this) so with more money in circulation and nothing to back it up (like Gold) we only have the UK's ability to sell their services to give their currency any credibility.

You say the market has already priced in the £50B print, yet the pound had already rallied over 500 pips since its 1.52376 low. The pound is just the flavor of the month and once Ireland start asking for an haircut and the world starts to see how badly the Irish debt will effect the UK on top of the money printing, then 1.50 will seem like good value for the pound.
