Japan won't intervene yet bcoz if they do, EURUSD will go down and that is bad for Japan b'coz japanese auto sector is dependent on european imports...US auto industry is a hard egg to crack, "buy american" right? The EURUSD rise is just a buffer zone in case the UJ will rise EURUSD will fall...

There is no currency speculation towards the Yen. That is just another fairy tale. What is happening is that in Japan the companies are bringing the money home. This has been done for a while now, ever since their great recession in the 90's. Azumi and all the officials in Japan know this very well. One should be nuts to put their money into the JPY, especially now, when they know they don't get anything in return. After all they don't get any interest on it. As for securing the wealth, I doubt Japan is more secure than the US or Australia or many other countries for that matter. So all these interventions have one serious goal in Japan. They are trying to force the companies taking their wealth home and keeping them in JPY under their pillows. The same thing is happening in the US. The Fed announcement about keeping interest rates near zero until late 2014 was nothing else but an intervention in the market. There are many ways to do it. But there is also a great deal of culture that playes a major role when it comes down to the JPY...

Japan is just shifting its FDIs to Asia(S.Korea,Indonesia, Malaysia, etc...) instead of Europe and Americas. So they need a strong yen to buy USDs for capital, but in return they need to weaken it, to impress EU and America for japanese imports...

Cash always seeks property rights, in good economies it will seek out growth,
in bad economies it will seek security.
I think this is just a bad case of matress stuffing.
Once the banks start charging you to hold cash, i.e. negative interest rates...

It's very easy for BOJ to finish the yen: SELL YEN, BUY USD eur/usd down .. eur/yen up.. gbp/yen up but this is not the problem for Azumi..if Sarko and Merk want a strong Euro and SNB want w strong euro, then Azumi will do "harakiri "
