Operation Twist: A Solution in Search of a Problem
In many of the analyst and economist notes hitting our inbox after the Fed’s decision to squash the yield curve and drive longer-term interest rates lower, a common theme emerges: There’s really not much practical point in doing this. Here’s Ian Shepherdson: We expect the Fed’s actions to have very little visible effect on the economy, because the level of interest rates and the shape of the curve are not the key constraints on growth.
