  • Trade war has no winners, China's vice premier warns, as Trump threatens tariffs

    Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang warned there are “no winners” in a trade war, as the world’s second-largest economy faces the possibility of tariffs under the freshly-inaugurated administration of Donald Trump. “Protectionism leads no where. [A] trade war has no winners,” Ding said Tuesday, according to an official English translation. He was speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The vice premier began his address largely by referencing Chinese President Xi Jinping’s speech at Davos in 2017, which took place just days before Trump headed to the White House to begin his first term. ... It's not a trade war. It's called leveling the playing field and not being taken advantage of. We are not the world's whipping boy. And we are not supposed to put direct taxes on the backs of our citizens, like every other nation does. Of course, CNBC doesn't know that because they're still in grade school.

USA is not capable to compete to China. it uses all kind of unfair methods based on imaginary "position of strength".

Nah you just missed the definition of trade war. Go back to your lone semester of high school economics and come back to us when you're finished.

We can't keep on buying everything other country's have to sell because it's cheap we are losing job's and money other country's don't buy nowhere near what we do. It needs to be more fair we buy a billion they buy a billion from us or all trade stops until they do.

To be honest, Trump et al have said they are "starting" with criminals, and the insinuation is that they would move on from there. Trump has never said anything like, "we're just going to remove the criminals, and the hard-working fruit-picking illegal aliens are welcome to stay." Because of course it's not his intent. I personally do not have a problem with removing them all. I do not hire manual laborers and I'll be fine if the US economy is plunged into a deep recession. Maybe it would take a cataclysmic event like that to force Congress to come up with some simple solutions.
