Optimism is priced into the financial market and that raises the bar for the economy to outperform. The economy is strong, but downside and policy uncertainty do exist and suggest that a cautious stance is warranted against the optimistic consensus Looking into this year, the consensus expectation is that the US economy will stay strong, which means that the bar for a positive surprise is high.
