    The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.3 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis in November, after rising 0.2 percent in each of the previous 4 months, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 2.7 percent before seasonal adjustment. The index for shelter rose 0.3 percent in November, accounting for nearly forty percent of the monthly all items increase.     Consumer prices rose at a faster annual pace in November, a reminder that inflation remains an issue both for households and policymakers. The consumer price index showed a 12-month inflation rate of 2.7% after increasing 0.3% on the month, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Wednesday. Excluding food and energy costs, core CPI was at 3.3% on an annual basis and 0.3% monthly. All of the numbers were in line with the Dow Jones consensus estimates. Notables:

To three decimals CPI m/m came in at 0.313% and Core CPI m/m at 0.308%.

Food rose 0.4%, driven by food at home up +0.5% and food away from home up +0.3%. Food inflation continues to decelerate YoY but shows recent monthly upticks.

Shelter rose 0.3%, accounting for 40% of the total increase. Shelter remains the largest driver of inflation, with steady month-over-month gains.

Used Cars and Trucks increased by 2.0% m/m, showing notable volatility. Used cars and trucks have reversed from declines earlier in the year to significant monthly increases, signaling market volatility.

Nat Gas up by 1.0% m/m.


Fuel oil decreased by -0.4% m/m. On a y/y basis energy prices declined by -3.2% driven by gasoline (-8.5%) and fuel oil (-19.5%). Gasoline rose by +0.6% m/m (adjusted), but unadjusted decline of -2.9% m/m.

Communication Services dropped by -1.0%.

Yes, further cuts are very likely. Inflation is broadly stable to support cuts.

No one knows but I bet they will. Question is about the path from here. I think this report is sufficiently soft for fed to stay on cutting path.
CPI is cool, and FED rate cuts are expected as per data dependence. Gold COT data buying has increased, and their focus is on 3000.
