US consumer confidence improves in December
The Consumer Sentiment Index in the United States rose 3.1% in December compared to the month before, to stand at 74.0, a preliminary report issued by the University of Michigan showed on Friday. On an annual level, the figure surged by 6.2%. The Current Economic Conditions Index jumped 21.6% in the reported month compared to November and climbed by 6% compared to December 2023, amounting to 77.7 points. The Index of Consumer Expectations plunged by 6.9% on a monthly basis and rose 6.2% on a yearly basis, coming in at 71.6.
