    The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.2 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis in October, the same increase as in each of the previous 3 months, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 2.6 percent before seasonal adjustment. The index for shelter rose 0.4 percent in October, accounting for over half of the monthly all items increase. The food index also increased over the month, rising 0.2 percent as the food at home index increased 0.1 percent and the food away from home index rose 0.2 percent. The energy index was ...   • Annual inflation rate hit 2.6% in October, meeting expectations

    Inflation perked up in October though pretty much in line with Wall Street expectations, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Wednesday. The consumer price index, which measures costs across a spectrum of goods and services, increased 0.2% for the month. That took the 12-month inflation rate to 2.6%, up 0.2 percentage point from September. The readings were both in line with the Dow Jones estimates. Excluding food and energy, the move was even more pronounced. Core CPI accelerated 0.3% for the month and was at 3.3% annually, also meeting forecasts. Used Cars and Trucks increased 2.7%, rebounding from a 0.3% rise in September.

Electricity rose 1.2%, following minor fluctuations in previous months.

Shelter up 0.4%, contributing over half of the total CPI increase. Shelter contributed 65% of total 12-month inflation, with owner’s equivalent rent up +3.3%. Shelter Cost remain the primary inflation driver, accounting for a significant share of both monthly and yearly increases.


Gasoline dropped -1.9%, marking a continued decline from September. The Energy Index is down -4.9% over the year, led by gasoline (-12.2%) and fuel oil (-20.8%).

Fuel Oil fell -4.6%, extending steep declines from previous months.

Fruits and Vegetables declined -1.2%, driven by seasonal price adjustments.

Communication Services decreased -0.6%, continuing a modest downtrend.

its look like sticky pockets of Inflation. Expecting dollar to remain where it was. Not sure what the market needs to reverse strong dollar. Expecting a pull back and see how bears defend.
