    The Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) rose by 2.6% in the 12 months to September 2024, down from 3.1% in August. On a monthly basis, CPIH rose by 0.1% in September 2024, down from 0.5% in September 2023. The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rose by 1.7% in the 12 months to September 2024, down from 2.2% in August. On a monthly basis, CPI was little changed in September 2024, down from a rise of 0.5% in September 2023. Oil has fallen rapidly because economies are dead, however war will cause a spike in Oil well beyond 100$ which will put a nail in the coffin for the economies.

Agree. Economies are already struggeling, including the US. Should a larger middle east war break out and we see a spike in oil prices thats going to kill the last green leaves. But we gotta face it. Inflation or not, consumers and businesses are more leveraged than ever before and the upper middle class and all the way to the lower income brackets would not be able to meet their debt obligations for much longer had rates stayed at 5%.

some two weeks ago, I wondered if BoE could sustain not cutting rates before the next scheduled cut in Nov.

the word we are waiting for is 'unprecedented' and there will rate cuts across the globe.
