ADP: US Labor Market Cools as Employers Add 150,000 Jobs
Private employers added 150,000 jobs in June as the labor market slowed somewhat, payroll firm ADP said on Wednesday. The number was below forecasts for a 160,000 gain and compares with an upwardly revised 157,000 increase in May. A pickup in the leisure and hospitality sectors, where 63,000 jobs were added, offset declines and sluggish growth in other sectors. Wages, meanwhile, rose at an annual rate of 4.9%, the lowest rate in nearly three years. "Job growth has been solid, but not broad-based," said Nela Richardson, chief economist at ADP.
