Spanish business activity growth sustained in June as market demand remains positive

Spain’s private sector economy continued to expand at an above average pace in June, supported by positive demand from both domestic and external clients. Firms responded by adding to their staffing levels at a noticeable rate, and this helped them to broadly keep on top of workloads. Confidence in the future remained positive as firms looked to more stable economic and political environments in the months ahead. Prices data meanwhile showed that cost inflation remained elevated, largely due to increased labour expenses. Firms responded by passing on these higher charges to clients wherever possible.
