  • US business activity continues to rise amid marked upturn in manufacturing production

    Business activity in the US continued to increase solidly at the end of the first quarter of the year, although growth ticked down from that seen in the previous survey period. The softer overall expansion reflected a weaker rise in services activity, while manufacturing production increased at the fastest pace in almost two years. A similar picture was seen with regards to demand, with new orders rising at a slightly softer pace in March. Haha. True. Kinda. "Care"? Of course the Fed does. Put overdue emphasis on 2 months of potentially seasonally-affected data? Perhaps not. Stuff is going to continue increasing in price. That has been the case since, well, nearly ever. Name one thing you can buy today that is LESS expensive than it was 10 years ago (aside from trash people don't want anymore like VGA cables or something....though at some point, even THOSE cost more due to scarcity).

I am as guilty as anyone else (despite buying everything on sale whenever possible) with respect to unwarranted spending. The consumer is driving the market though. If people said "nope, I am it going to pay that!", then demand would decrease, supply would exceed demand, prices would fall, inflation would drop. It is pretty simple (though GETTING THERE is rarely easy because to do so quickly would take a concerted effort, which is never going to happen). So the FED does what it can. Increase/hold high rates at a level that should slowly dissuade excessive spending by consumers and businesses alike while attempting to avoid a labor catastrophe that spirals out of control with respect to layoffs leaving to inability to buy leasing to more layoffs as companies close, etc, etc.

Powell will cut rates (Fed) in June whichever data comes out, because data doesn't matter anymore.
So, now those who were talking about Fed potentially hiking rates are proven to be wrong, now the market seems to realize (not fully yet) that Fed will cut rates in June for which reason the stock market will continue making higher highs, PMs, Crypto, basically everything, because the currencies will start to lose value dramatically going forward.
inflation rate higher more .... that is very important to solve ..... not PMI

    A balance sheet is a financial statement that shows what an organization owns (its assets) and what it owes (its liabilities). At the Bank, we have financial assets on our balance sheet to support our core policy functions—not to make a profit. For every liability on our balance sheet, we need a corresponding asset. The Bank’s balance sheet has three main types of liabilities: Cash: the bank notes in wallets and cash registers across the country Government deposits: the funds that the Government of Canada (GoC) deposits with us to meet its day-to-day banking needs Settlement balances: the reserves used to settle wholesale payments in the financial system Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bank regularly bought government bonds as assets to manage our balance sheet. But during the pandemic, we bought a lot more of them—first to stabilize the financial system and then to support the economic recovery. Our balance sheet grew by a lot and this growth was reflected in higher settlement balances. Since April 2022, we’ve been shrinking our balance sheet by using quantitative tightening (QT). This means that we have been letting our GoC bonds “roll off” the balance sheet as they mature, and we don’t buy new ones to replace them.
