    Compensation costs for civilian workers increased 1.0 percent, seasonally adjusted, for the 3-month period ending in December 2022, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Wages and salaries increased 1.0 percent and benefit costs increased 0.8 percent from September 2022. (See tables A, 1, 2, and 3.)     Pay and benefits for America’s workers grew at a healthy but more gradual pace in the final three months of 2022, a third straight slowdown, which could help reassure the Federal Reserve that wage gains won’t fuel higher inflation. Wages and benefits, such as health insurance, grew 1% in the October-December quarter compared with the previous three months. That marked a solid gain, though it was slower than the 1.2% increase in the July-September quarter. Another nail in dollar's coffin and reason? Pay the worker less and less which is welcomed by Powell to meet is inflation target, to hell with the worker, let him pay the price. hospitality businesses and vets and other service industries are small businesses that HAVE to pass on these costs to their customers. Large tech companies can eat it or "redistribute" the costs. Businesses with 20 or fewer employees can't do that.

I believe (could be wrong) but Powell will be HAWKISH and lots of stops are going to be taken out tomorrow.

Yes, though I am short USD because I expect inflation to continue to come down and slower growth for US Economy. This is actually a very possible scenario. Powell could potentially come out hawkish tomorrow, which is why I’m looking for any cues, for now I continue shorting USD. But very good and strong point my friend

The problem is this: The FED is looking to regain creditability. They missed it with "transitory" and now the markets believe that the FED is going to cut rates in Q4 2023.

Remember ALL INFLATION NUMBERS are in the past.

This YEAR (2023) Lumber up 30%, copper UP, oil UP, FOOD UP.

Inflation is NOT over, being covered over maybe...

So are people expecting a Fed pivot today, or for it to stick to its guns for another month? It looks like inflation is falling in the euro area according to the inflation data released today.
