  • One in five Australian homes sold for $1 million or more

    From corelogic.com.au

A record number of Australians spent $1 million or more to secure a home in the past year, CoreLogic’s annual Million Dollar Markets report reveals. Over the year to March 2022, CoreLogic collected 596,733 sales nationally, up 19.8% from the 497,923 sales recorded the previous year. Of these 23.8% sold for $1 million or more. Report author, CoreLogic Research Analyst Kaytlin Ezzy, said Australia’s bullish economic and property performance during latter part of 2021 had led to a record result for both the volume of transactions and the proportion of million-dollar sales. 1 000 000 AUD or more. One in five. So according to ASIC research and statistical view about 20% of the Australians can be pronounced as wealthy. This is not bad at all assuming that the rest 80% are just somewhere in the middle (not rich but not poor either). The country with the longest period in the history with no recession Respect.

Across the ACT, 52 house markets made the million-dollar list in May, more than double the 28 from the year prior. While no unit markets made the list, 62.7% of ACT’s house markets did. The portion of million-dollar sales rose over the year to May, from 16.0% in 2021 to 28.9% in 2022.

PS. since when 52 is more than double of 28 ??? :-)

Ever since someone found out that market numbers can be manipulated
The phenomenon got worse recently as the obvious is being denied and the lie is being promoted more often than not.

I wouldn't regard that as manipulation rather ignorance and incompetence. That's why we have to be careful when we read reports :-)

Yes I agree. 52 double of 28 is quite a bold mistake. Could be just typo.

What are the conditions and the requirements for the first time home-buyers in Australia? Need to have own start capital as a minimum percentage of the house price? Regular job? Someone (relatives, very close person) who can secure the loan?
Not easy, but I guess the situation is more or less the same in Europe and USA also.

The truth is that a young couple has to begin somewhere somehow. But authorities do not make it very easy for young people to begin their standalone life. Must be always depending on parents and relatives.
