  • Biden urges Western unity on Ukraine amid war fatigue

    From apnews.com

President Joe Biden and Western allies opened a three-day summit in the Bavarian Alps on Sunday intent on keeping economic fallout from the war in Ukraine from fracturing the global coalition working to punish Russia’s aggression. Britain’s Boris Johnson warned the leaders not to give in to “fatigue” even as Russia lobbed new missiles at Kyiv. The Group of Seven leaders were set to announce new bans on imports of Russian gold, the latest in a series of sanctions the club of democracies hopes will further isolate Russia economically. They also were looking at possible price caps on energy meant to limit ... (full story)

Two question -

How big is the weapons industry in America?

Which industry and this which country benefits the most when war breaks out?

The answers will make people realise they are being fooled.

Let's promote peace not war
I come from the future.

@ Hurst It is very naive to say that the war will end tomorrow, and a part of the statement about Zelenski is false and offensive.
Russia's goal is to capture all of Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Moldova, parts of Poland and Romania in 10-20 years. In the conquered territory, they will murder and persecute the resisting local population. There will be no peace until Russia achieves its goals.
Western leaders do not want this war but are aware of the danger. The war in Ukraine is only part of the confrontation between the West, the democratic states of Eastern Europe and Asia, and Russia and China.
Russia and China want a new world order - without human rights, but with the right to full surveillance of citizens, lack of freedom of speech, full control over social life and brutal political re-education of the defiant.

Ahhh Pat...what a smart questions are you asking ... you're a very smart guy ... so smart that your head is too heavy for two legs..I think you need four ...
..I'll answer your questions Sir
1.The U.S. military industry is very, very large. Full stop.
2.When war breaks out, the military industry that can produce the most military equipment and other related goods profits the most.

I hope my answers will help you understand the situation.

So sad to see people so gleefully go into war. It is due to the Western model of consumption that eventually become saturated, and the only way to kick start it again is through destruction. A never ending cycle of wars.

Unless we transition as a race we are doomed to keep repeating the cycles of destruction. YOu have to question our whole concept of values, because clearly they are focused on the wrong things.

Gerillel, the dollar is the only currency that was never cancelled. The only currency I would be holding as we go into a war is dollars.

I see FF moderators are busy applying their code of conduct rules to posts that are clearly not against FF policy. Twee I think you should look into the rules because supporting what some one say does not qualify it for being hidden.

FF run the risk of becoming another censoring site, if that happens it will be a sad day for people like us.

Dont worry too much, FF moderators are not censoring but applying brakes on some political views.

I cannot believe FF's over - reaction to Hurst's reasoned and heartfelt comments.
Whether TPTB acknowledge it or not, politics , wars, the info wars , Government propaganda ALL affect our trading. so in the ultimate sense why would an investments site censor accurate Truth Speech , perhaps even freespeech?

FF is simply applying the same rules as the overall main stream media concerning the Ukraine. There is a vested interest in turning the conflict into a new afghanistan like conflict that whould last for years. Zelenski is seeing his country getting shredded to bits by the russians but he has been warned not to negotiate. the harsh reality is setting in it's the return of the "forever wars". One of Mr. Biden's election promise that he would never do.

Chemosi - My point is that Putin invaded Ukraine w/o provocation. Giving Russia anything is appeasement that rewards aggression encouraging more. For third parties to say give it up is immaterial. What country would do that with their own land?

Of course Ukraine is corrupt. Hunter Biden has shown us that and it was known before. They were under the USSR umbrella so it is entrenched. Their healthcare system is not a rational for separation. They have been a nation since 1991 so why not the movement until 2014? There are separatist movements in many places. Basques for instance. If they were all acquiesced to we would end up with feudal lords again.

What a lot of horseshit.
Russia just like Ukraine and almost every other politically developed state, has a small minority of extreme nazi-like rightwing militants. Putins friendly interactions his own bunch are well documented

"There would be no Ukrainian Neo-Nazis without NATO".????. Beyond ridiculous.
"ISIS was created to facilitate a gas pipeline from Qatar/middle east to Europe -Russia stopped them.
??? ..just worthy of a special "Homers does geopolitics" episode of the Simpsons..

This entire thread .. has turn into "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest"
- Hurst with his worthy pacifist convictions - Chicos obsession/ (sorry) talking-point - (always the agenda) - with his 1950s Industrial-Military-Complex Narrative. Even the Minge showed up to peddle his psychobabble twaddle.

As to Twee - I guess like me and '000 of other members who look in every day, hoping or some intelligent constructive informed comment on this sort of news, he just got pissed off with the same-old/same-old the "usual Suspects"... chorus.

That's right RossE...
Someone above said that Ukrainians have been a nation since 1991. How to discuss and come into dialogue with such claims? It just misses that bunch of hundreds of years. But it doesn't matter that's it, that's what we are, that's what we became ...
And I sometimes lose my temper, and Twee reacts (probably rightly) ... but to think that the devastation and killing of Ukraine is justified only because Ukraine is corrupt country... it is in conflict with common sense ..
In any case, in such discussions, only medicine can explain some claims and opinions ... and that is its branch called psychiatry ...

Is the fight over a gas pipeline fuelling the world’s bloodiest conflict?
https://www.news.com.au/world/middle...e280b63a9afb74
"It was hoped the pipeline would provide cheaper access to Europe but Syrian President Bashar al Assad refused to give permission for the pipeline to go through his territory. Some believe Russia pressured him to reject the pipeline to safeguard its own business."
"In the meantime Iran, which owns the other smaller, share of the Persian Gulf gas field, decided to lodge its own rival plan for a $10 billion pipeline to Europe via Iraq and Syria and then under the Mediterranean Sea."
"
These plans apparently had Russia’s blessing, possibly because it could exert more influence over Iran, which, unlike Qatar, did not host a US air base.
Assad signed off on the Iran plan in 2012 and it was due to be completed in 2016 but it was ultimately delayed because of the Arab Spring and the civil war.
Many countries supporting or opposing the war against Assad have links to these pipeline plans.
Failed pipeline bidder Qatar is believed to have funded anti-Assad rebel groups by $3 billion between 2011 and 2013. Saudi Arabia has also been accused of funding the terrorist group.
"

I dont know anything

Both, right and wrong. Russia has its "reasons" for attacking Ukraine. These reasons are insane, and criminal. Will not further comment on that, I don't want your head to swell more ...
