Well isnt that interesting. Thats not the advice their most senior independent legal advisors have opined. In fact the Governments own most senior legal advisor Sir Jonathan Jones, resigned in 2020 when ministers first threatened to ditch parts of the protocol.
-Johnson and Frost knew about the Good Friday agreement when they signed this protocol, and was accepted by them as protecting the interests of the Good Friday agreement. Makes the idea that they have now come up with as a basis for walking away from the protocol. A serious WTF situation.
But Johnson Frost make it up as they go along. And when they found themselves in a political corner with their buddies in the DUP - they went "Legal Opinion Shopping".. And Yipee- they managed to scrape the bottom of the barrel with an exTrump lawyer, (seriously ) to spin a new "Opinion" on which to base their POLITICAL need to ditch the Protocol. Its a total legal farce ..but its what Johnson needs.. a pretext go to "War" to with the "EU"..however crazy, as a diversion , to help his tenuous hold on power after 40% of his own party voted no confidence in him earlier in the week. Amazingly a new twist emerged on Tuesday.. that een Sir James Eadie QC, First Treasury Counsel, had not been consulted on the legality of the Government’s proposed legislation to override the Northern Ireland protocol, because it was know that he would advise against its breach. . This was denied directly by the Prime Minister in a response to a parliamentary question from the hon. Member for Foyle (Colum Eastwood). It would now appear that, at the very least, the answer given by the Prime Minister to the hon. Gentleman "was incomplete".
= Thats Parlaimenty Jargon for another Johnson straight out Fkucing LIE.
