  • Germany and Italy approved Russian gas payments after nod from Brussels

    From euractiv.com

Germany and Italy told companies they could open ruble accounts to keep buying Russian gas without breaching sanctions against Moscow following discussions with the European Union, sources said. The debate over Russia’s demand that foreign buyers pay for gas in rubles has tested the resolve of European governments to take a hard line against Moscow over the war in Ukraine. Poland, Bulgaria and Finland have refused to comply with Moscow’s demand that importers pay for gas via ruble accounts with Gazprombank and their supplies have been cut. Other member states, however, have been unwilling to steer companies ... (full story)

Another thing that I don’t get is how comes some ex-communist countries (now democracies) already announced they cut oil, electricity and gas import from Russia, while already established western democracies (which are supposed to be richer) still trying to find a way to import oil and gas instead of finding ways how to cut it.

Which side are they on? Probably have a meeting to decide. Don't expect a decision till after war is over.

Because ex-commies know exactly the kind of evil they dealing with, while “established” (rich) countries blinded by profit

From the Central Bank school of decision making.
Subsection 346 Annex 3ii subsection 24.5 note 63
"Decisions must be announced at least two years after it should have been made."
EDIT Addendum 4.3 all decisions must be half assed / mediocre as to have negligable impact.

Even they are against the war, can not give up underfloor heating. So, lets support the Russian war, build their economy and making rouble stronger... Who has approved the decision? Lots of Russians are living in East Germany. Is Germany divided? Very strange outcome. Temporary?

And Italy? They purchase 38% natural gas from Russia, I heard about deals in progress with Algeria.

Hope this is only temporary/transitory

All that really bugs me out. Something must be very very fishy, but Uncle Sam will soon put them all in place. I can see Biden shows more and more who he really is. This guy is not be kidding with.

BTW White Russia seems to be preparing to invade Ukraine from north. I am sure this will blow out of dimensions and Poland will be the first to involve there and cut off the Belorussians , but this will not stop there. I am pretty sure about that.

What is not to get? They need gas to fuel their industry and economy.

This war has nothing to do with Germany or Italy or EU, everything they are doing, is reluctantly for show.

Russia demanding rubble payments a direct result of EU action, there's nothing unexpected or weird here.

I'm sure EU is already regretting getting involved, the conflict would be over if it weren't for them, and every day it continues, it hurts EU citizens. No democratic government should do anything other than to force for peace.

This is called greed, selfishness and nothing else.

Macron was saying 'this war is not with Europe' will stick in my head forever. Something I didn't expect from him at all. He is basically closing his eyes, playing safe politics game.

I mean what support did France or Germany provided to Ukraine? Tanks from Germany will arrive in July, a bit late isn't?

Germany is under preasure I know, but wth Merkel was doing, she aproved all these gas contracts.

Only my opinion, thats all.

Hope we will not come to the point Poland is involved. If we do, then a disaster WW3 is inevitable.

No worries Jolita, there will be no WW3. As far as I can remember so far, Russian officials have threatened nuclear strikes about 7 times. It is a sign of weakness, not strength. We are more afraid of the "fear of the bomb" than the nuclear bomb itself. As Bismarck said long ago “preventive war is like committing suicide for fear of death”. That is Putin's strategy ... but the lights in the Kremlin will soon be turned off

I believe it's called democracy, the politicians have a duty to do what is best for their citizens, and depriving them of energy has very negative consequences on quality of life.

If you feel so strongly about doing something, there's nothing stopping you from going to fight yourself - but most people want to have nothing to do with this war.

I'll give it 3-6 months and most, if not all of the EU countries will open up ruble accounts.
This will all be swept under the rug once China invades Taiwan. The sanctions will be reversed (or revised/renamed) and it's business as usual.

You are asking the right questions. Globalists dont see national boundaries, they see profits and control.
Some conspiracies have it that satanic globalists are loosing their headquarters Ukraine, but not
without a fight.
They already lost Afghanistan, shocking how the taliban just walked in without much resistance.

Ruble has become too strong very fast.

While I understand your point I disagree with you and I agree with Macron - this is not a EU war it is between Ukraine and Russia - PERIOD.

I don't agree with it but it is what it is...
