There is a reason why genuine peace talks can't gain traction whilst the battle theatre(s) and war status is still changing daily and nowhere near exhaustion. Russia still believes that it can make unreasonable demands on the basis of fear of superiority and a supposed inevitability (both now somewhat unproven), whereas Ukraine believes it can thwart the Russian forces' plans, making the current demands obsolete. Russia wouldn't ever admit it but it probably needs a deal now more than Ukraine, before the Military gets a new stalemated front and the casualties so large that the populace in the 'Motherland' start to get really agitated. Add to that the amount of effort, people and money that would have to be expended by Russia to retain any territory and the balance of need for a peace deal seems to be tipping fast.

There won't be peace talks while Zelenski's CIA handlers dictate that he fight the war to the last Ukrainian.
