Nope, it's just western robbery of Russian people, because' it's their money, their taxes, their pensions, it's not Putin money. But who cares now!
It was rational for Russia to make debt payments from frozen funds.

But it is unlikely that they will find any value in servicing debt from their remaining free funds.

What shall western creditors do?

Declare default, and put a lien on the frozen reserves? That were offered for payment all along?

I think it will default, and they will paid by rubles, to Russian account, that foreigners cannot use because sanctions.

Forcing a default upon Russia will mean it won't be able to access finance in Western financial markets.

It seems to me that by forcing them to live within their current means, you will inflict short term damage and long term gains.

If they survive the short term, they're on to a winner.

BTW, I'm not Pro Russian.

Every time I write something, Pro West people will think I'm Putin Oligarchs......... I wish....

Geopolitics right now take higher role than economy, maybe that's why it can be complicated see any logic.

Russia's demands to be paid in roubles for gas, and its related decision to peg the rouble to a fixed gold price.
A lot hinges on this Mexican stand off ...

The peg was set at 5000 roubles / gram of Au
or 28 g in 1 oz of Au

As Russia is trying to peg Rouble to Gold, so at present Gold price, Rouble should rise further and reach range of 70-75 to USD

Gold price will reset with Rouble:Gold peg.
As Rouble strengthens, it will continue to set the floor for physical gold.
Some arbitrage at play.
US Inflation need of control. Wait for next rate increase.

For now, there is too many ifs and doubts, Russia is currently trying to peg Rouble to gold, that will destroy US & EU fiat currencies and Western economies. ?

Here's the simple wat s looking at it.

This is probably even more related to the 5,000 Rubles = 1gr Gold peg announced by RCB. At the current price of spot gold it should bring the Rouble to about $1 = 5000 * 31.1035 / 1914 = 81.25 Rubles.

Used $1914 as price of gold. And 31.1035 as grams in a troy ounce.

I think it's simplier, the exporters just selling all currency 80%-100% cause' central bank rule. The price of gold in my opinion depends on confrontation Russia with NATO, gold it's seems like safe haven in this crisis, who need green paper when it will be huge conflict.

honestly. i am a mistake in the matrix. the money we have is mostly thanks to my brother. i just help him not to waste money, as he is extremely good in money waste... and my fee of doing that is fat. i ask and take 50% of the net. but most credits should go to my brother. he is the smarter one of both of us... i just know how to manage money. seems important when running a business.

Comparing USD Vs ruble is hillarious, sorry but with No trade in between them they dont compare. Russian and friends dreams in grogress i Guess.

And about gold fixed at 5000, someone care to explain what IT means, russian Banks are alloved to buy at discount from the mines?

Oh and pound and euro is to be factored in, if your gonna speculate in a possible USD "collapse"

In old Days gold was the measure, in new Days wealth of the corperations, is base of bonds

Bonds makes the World spin, and the default Will raise above skyhigh, also if borrow from China, someone Will have to pay for insecure rates and insurance
