  • Why House Prices Surged as the COVID-19 Pandemic Took Hold

    From dallasfed.org

In the wake of the short but steep COVID-19 recession, house prices have risen at record levels in recent months, hitting the peak increase of 19.3 percent in July 2021 (Chart 1). These double-digit increases represent a stark departure from what occurred before the pandemic—from early 2013 to early 2020—when house prices rose at a moderate annual rate of about 5 percent and exceeded the rate of increase in rents. The resulting rising house-price-to-rent ratio, a barometer of relative housing costs, reflected a moderate prepandemic increase in house valuations. This rise was the product of a limited increase in ... (full story)

This is all BULLSHIT!

Truth is, prices climbed because corporations......flooded in funds from the obliging Robber Banks and the FED.....came into the market like never before, to buy up choice offerings, especially when associated with distressed "owners"!

The lies have become never ending, obfuscating the fact that corporations are taking and getting the best of what life used to be promised to all Americans......"just get a good education and work hard". And this has all been made possible by the "entitled wealthy"....mostly associated with corporations....gradually eroding the AMERICAN DREAM. Which they have done by getting laws changed and the ways they do business changed, so those elites at the top can more freely abuse, plunder and walk away FAT, DUMB AND HAPPY without ever having to PAY THE PIPER. Quite the contrary, their only consequence is increased wealth!

If this is allowed to continue, there will come a time the AMERICAN DREAM will be only a dim memory. Except for the vulture elites, Americans will not be able to afford their own homes. They will rent from corporations, or they will live on the streets.....as more and more are already beginning to.

Ignored
This is inevitable. It is because of the fact that the age demographics are crappy for the West/US... it is worse in China, etc... but yeah.

Basically in order for the benefits of the larger "aging out" population to be paid, and all the municipals to stay solvent in an environment of fewer workers, they will just (have) to inflate the heck out of it... of which we are just seeing the start here.

But yeah, consequence is low rates with stagnant wages for the smaller "working demographic" while yeah you are right, home prices will still be up here... and like you said will get so bad that will force many to rent.

It's the age demographics (IMO) that will cause this to be crappy/bad/an issue here over time, to get even worse.
