  • Weekly jobless claims total 787,000, the lowest level since March

    From cnbc.com

New filings for jobless claims in the U.S. totaled 787,000 last week, the lowest total since the early days of the coronavirus pandemic. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had been expecting 875,000 for the week ended Oct. 17. The total reflected a decline of 55,000 from the downwardly revised 842,000 from the previous week. This unfortunately is meaningless - because all traders are waiting for is the supplemental spending bill from Congress. IMHO that will NOT happen today because Pelosi doesn't want to give Trump ammo for the debate tonight.

May be so for Forex pairs but for Gold could signal further downside or more correctly persistence to say 1874 or lower. The scale before now appeared tipped North but depending on depth of immediate run one fears that regardless of what happens with the politics Gold might press further south - was always on a pin head the setup prior.

Maybe its good and may be not - who really knows? Gold for instance dipped on the news but markets if at all tend to dwell on news for variable lengths of time (range). Gold dynamics for instance appear to be setting up to retrace the move in the period ahead. So better to focus on some defined setup. See it (news or no news) trade it and if you don't see it (regardless of "good" or "bad" news) stay out. That way you are not chasing the market blind. Just a thought.
