The figure of trade: May 2020
In May 2020, the deterioration of French imports and exports observed in March and April stops. A slight recovery begins, trade reaching approximately 3/4 of their pre-crisis level. The deficit increases significantly for the second month consecutive (+2.0 billion euros after +2.1 in April) to reach 7.1 billion euros. In May, the energy deficit remains at a historically low level. Excluding energy, the deficit increased again due to the larger rebound in imports compared to that of exports.
