Criticism over ‘inverted’ picture for bank note loses currency
The Finance Ministry has rebutted critics on the Internet who flipped out over the mistaken belief that an inverted photo of Umeko Tsuda would adorn the new 5,000-yen bank note. The ministry, which released a sample of the design on April 9, said it never uses specific photos, inverted or not, for new bank notes. And it emphasized that creating a portrait for new currency involves much more than simply copying and pasting an image.
