After days of speculation, Malcolm Turnbull has declared the Liberal Party leadership vacant - and now faces a battle against his rival Peter Dutton. The Guardian reports Mr Turnbull has called on the challenge "to force his dissenters out". "It's a way of attempting to take control of the situation," reporter Amy Remeikis writes. "Julia Gillard did this too - and then later, Kevin Rudd challenged."
