In June 2018, output bounced back in the manufacturing industry (+0.6% after −0.5% in May) as well as in the whole industry (+0.6% after −0.2%).

In June 2018, output bounced back in the manufacturing industry (+0.6% after −0.5% in May) as well as in the whole industry (+0.6% after −0.2%).

Manufacturing output was virtually stable over the second quarter of 2018 (+0.1%). It decreased in the overall industry (−0.4%).
Compared with the first quarter of 2018, output decreased markedly in mining and quarrying, energy, water supply (−3.2%) and in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (−2.3%). It tumbled in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (−10.8%) due to maintenance operations. On the contrary, it rose sharply in the manufacture of transport equipment (+2.4%), and more slightly in “other manufacturing” (+0.3%) and in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+0.5%).
Over a year, manufacturing output increased (+1.4%)
Manufacturing output of the second quarter increased compared to the same quarter of 2017 (+1.4%), as well as in the whole industry (+1.0%).
Over a year, output soared in the manufacture of transport equipment (+5.4%). To a lesser extent, it also grew in “other manufacturing” (+1.3%) and in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (+0.7%). Conversely, output tumbled in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (−16.7%). It went down in mining and quarrying, energy, water supply (−0.9%) and in the manufacture of food products and beverages (−0.3%).

In June, output recovered in “other manufacturing” (+0.6% after −0.5%)
Output increased in most branches of “other manufacturing”. It bounced back in the manufacture of rubber and plastics products, and other non-metallic mineral products (+1.4% after +1.3%), in other manufacturing, repair and installation of machinery and equipment (+0.8% after –0.6%), in the manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products (+0.7% after –1.2%) and in that of wood, paper and printing industries (+1.3% after –0.8%). It also grew in pharmaceuticals (+0.5% after +2.0%) and in textiles, wearing apparel, leather and related products (+0.4% after –1.1%). It fell only in chemicals (−0.8% after +0.2%).
Output recovered in the manufacture of transport equipment (+1.7% after −1.3%)
Output recovered in the manufacture of other transport equipment (+2.0% after −0.9%) and in that of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (+1.3% after −1.7%).
Strong rebound in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+25.2% after −14.4%)
Output rebounded sharply in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+25.2% after −14.4%), as several refineries resumed production after maintenance.
Output grew in mining and quarrying; energy; water supply (+0.7% after +1.7%)
Output went up mainly in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply (+0.9% after +2.0%).
Output slipped back in machinery and equipment goods (−1.2% after +1.2%)
Output fell back in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (−3.2% after +2.3%) and in that of machinery and equipment n.e.c. (−0.4% after +0.8%). It grew in the manufacture of electrical equipment (+0.8% after +0.1%).
Output decreased again in the manufacture of food products and beverages (−0.5% after −0.6%)
Output went down again in the manufacture of food products and beverages (−0.5% after −0.6%), in particular in the processing and preserving of meat and production of meat products.
