Hello,

Basically i would be willing to see tick charts from some specific time in past.

At the moment i use strategy tester, get to the point i am interested to and then watch every tick in slow motion. if the data is correct it does the job, but it is not very convenient.

Does anyone have a better idea of how to approach this problem? .. i tried some indicators.. but they all worked only on real charts.

You can't do it unless you download actual tick data and either pay to use the tick data in the Strategy Tester or find some other way . . . what you currently see in the Strategy Tester are made up ticks not real ones, the Strategy Tester creates the ticks from the M1, M5, etc data you have and it will if the tick count data (Volume) is high it creates more made up ticks, if it is low it creates fewer made up ticks.
20 pips a day isn't too much to ask . . .

Yeah, it's a trick that MT4 does to save on bandwidth and storage space. Tick level data takes up a lot of space, especially if the quote feed has a high tick rate.

From Dukascopy's tick history, ~3 years worth of tick data can be 2-3Gbs of size per pair. . spread that around 50 pairs (about average for most brokers) and you got yourself one hefty download session going for a new install of MT4.

So instead, MT4 just takes minute data and tick volume (as the other poster mentioned) and uses some creative license to fill in the blanks (generates fake ticks that touch the open, high, low, and close of the bar but don't actually be what the real market did at that time.)

Yeah, but i don't need that far past. I would be entirely happy with just a month or so. Can't they just save it for last month or even week or even day?!

I'm that kind of guy who basically never pays for conviniences like this. What solution would you advise for me?

Also i am basically interested only in eur/usd and jpy/usd.

Thank you!

Never said you had to pay for it. :P

You just want to 'view' the data? You don't need to use 3rd party tools like a trade simulator or anything like that?

If so, you could grab the CSV files for the ticks from Dukas through a demo account (the ability to download tick data is within their platform,) or even from the truefx (integral) site. You'll have to do a little googling to find out how to use the stuff, but I mention a bit here on my algo journal:
