Day Trading for a Living

Hi All,

I have started this thread for everyone out there who day trades the markets.

This is not dedicated to anyone system, so everyone is welcome. It is however more focused towards shorter term trading, so if we can lets try to stay on topic.

If you can, try to post around the time that you enter the trade although I understand that is not always possible. Shorter term trading can be intense so please don't let this thread distract you. Only post here when you can and remember your trading comes first... well mine does anyway :-)

Charts and Videos also welcome.

I am currently short the Euro... hovering around break even.... lets see

Just bailed on the trade for +5 pips... not even 1:1 but the market was having a hard time breaking support so better to cut the trade and enter again if we get a clean break.

I tend not to trade with targets as such... I like to have a 1:1 risk reward as a minimum, but I watch the momentum and let the market tell me when to get out. Does that make sense?

Generally though my trades close for somewhere between 1:1 and 1:2 I rarely get more than that...
I was long @ 1.25546 on EURUSD because the price stalled around the half number aswell as the daily pivot, TP was hit @ 1.2575 (pink horizontal line).

I will short the EUR until the elections in Greece. Then it is time to stand outside the market for a few days, great time for vacation all you daytraders! you never know what does crazy guys there might do
EURUSD short @ 1.25722, price bounced off a mid pivot and moved under the quarter number, price then moved back up and stalled at the quarter number area so I entered short, TP 1.25505.

Closed @ 1.2558. +14

Edit, would you look at that, if I'd of kept it on my TP would of been hit, what an idiot.

Nexus, I think you really need to post charts and show the entry price, what your intended exit is, your stop and your reasons for taking the trade. Simply saying "I am short the euro" and then "I bailed because the market was having a hard time" will not offer anything of much interest to the forum. There are many many other threads where people are writing "I am short the euro".

Hi Nexas,

ForexFactory have a great tool named Trade Explorer. You can see all trades in real time + charts. People can share their TradeExplorer and others can track & learn a lot from it.

AUDUSD long @ 0.99593, price moved down, stalled and bounced off the daily pivot and half number, TP is 1.0000, SL is currently at break even, leaving this one on and I'm going for a sleep, still jetlagged to hell.

i'm new here in forexfactory
i would like to ask if anyone of you trades for a living.. meaning someone who doesnt have a job and trades FX full time?

i'm planning to do this really soon.. in a few weeks time. what would you guys suggest for me to do first. a little bit scared coz i'll treat this as a business.

Hi Roofx,

Yes I appreciate that but, I won't do it at the expense of my trading. So if I have time I will.

I am not looking to teach people my approach on this thread as it is more interactive trading. People can find my trading system elsewhere on forex factory. Does that make sense?

I am more trying to give you an insight as to how I make my trading decisions and what really goes on during a trading day.

But yes I will try when I can to give a chart.

Hi Chiwi,

I do and know people who do.

My main piece of advice is to not rush it... make sure you are not trading your food money. Try not to trade to daily or weekly targets and just take what the markets give you.

I trade my own account for a living, the biggest thing I can say is;

Have a plan and stick to it, the biggest barrier between making money and blowing the account is a psychological one, then theres having an idea of how the market moves and behaves.

Thanks, todays been a good day, 60+ pips in total, 3 winning trades 0 losses, some days I'll make 10+ trades as the market provides them opportunitys available to trade, some days I'll make none if I don't feel comfortable in entering, my SL is always appropriate to my profit target and my usual Risk:Reward is 1:2/1:3
I was long the EUR @1.25980 and was up 15pips my target was 20pips, so I went ahead cleaned my shower and came back to to see my trade down -10pips.
