Default trade simulator

Hi Guys,

I just bought a product called Forex Tester (www.forextester.com) and, I must say, I absolutely love it. You can load history data (even MetaTrader history) and it simulates the data flowing in allowing you to place mock trades against the historical data. I'm using it now to manually backtest a couple strategies.

I definitely recommend this product. I think it's one of the coolest tools I've run across so far.

Regards,

stockwet

(And no, I have no affiliation with the company. Just recommending a trading tool for you.)

Good to see someone take the plunge!

I downloaded the demo some time back, but it only runs the simulator for 10 minutes. If it allowed even twenty I would have a better idea of wether I like it or not. Was considering it anyway.

It allows custom indicators too (and EA's from memory???).

I'm surprised this doesn't have a larger following.

It won't do custom indicators, correct?

Default Any other progrmas like this?

This looks like a fantastic little piece of sotware. I'm just wondering if anyone knows of similar programs and their average prices?

I've looked around before, nothing (that is affordable) can touch it as far as I can tell.

Someone pointed the program out a month or two ago here and only a couple of people seemed interested, or noticed.

Thanks Bundy.

After downloading the demo I see real potential in this product. I have been manually backtesting my system over the past 3 weeks and I must say it is both time consuming and also a massive brain drain. After playing around with the demo for the past hour I think I could do my backtesting in 20% of the time. It is hard to tell with the limitations of the demo, only 10 mintues per testing session and only 1 months of data to play with.

There was one flaw I noticed and that is there is no way to implement a Trailing Stop. This is a huge problem for me as it is an intergral part of my system. I guess if that was added it would be well worth the money for myself.

I just read through the forum at the forextester site (didn't take long!), sounds like trailing stops may be included in the next build(??). Sounds vague though.

The program's very new. So it can only get more powerful as it matures.

The admin on the forum mentions that new updates will be provided to customers for free... ....UNTIL version 2 comes out mid next year that is.

Hopefully it's only a small update fee and not seen as an excuse to charge an arm and a leg for the more developed program.

I just read through the Forum also. You can tell it is indeed a new program.

I think I will send a few questions to the developers:
When will you be addin Trailing Stop functionality?

How often will new builds be released?

How much do you propose the Version 2 upgrade to cost?

I am not a fan of paying a large amount of money for a new version, considering most companies take advantage of users this way by only adding a new look interface while not adding any new substantial features.

Anyway if there a number of people interested in this program maybe we can organise some type of discount from the developer. Its worth a try anyway.

Check out www.forexinterbank.com under their simulator. Not sure how it compares to the the forex tester. I am really interested in getting this new product though. I really enjoyed the one by forexinterbank and although it really still needs a lot of improvements, the amount of concentrated downtim eI received from trading with it has improved my trading abilities and results considerably.
