This is very embarassing for me...I work for a very large financial services institution as a quant guy (futures and options), and I haven't been able to figure out the SDK basics. The problem is, that at work, we use an in-house DDE and its as simple as putting in Cell = DDE_Name(Parameters). Or maybe, I suck at this because I just graduated from college, and have been working for about 2 months now, and I'm not even a computers major. I still wonder why they hired me.....
I really appreciate someone answering my questions. Thanks in advance (atleast for reading all this BS).
1. I am looking to get bid/ask prices in to my excel spreadsheet for a few currency pairs. I downloaded the samples on MBT's website, but I cant understand what the hell the code does. It has some activex crap in it, so I can't "step into" the code, to see what each line does. Isnt there a simple "Ok this cell = MBTQuotes.BidPrice(A2)" kinda stuff that I could use?
2. A real-time updating server time, so my code can look at it, and perform the steps I want it to.
3. Is there a way I could get OHLC quotes for a timeframe (1 min and greater), without having to sift through all the data to figure out OHLC?
4. Would excel have enough computing power to do some pretty crazy calculations without messing up or should I use java? (I'd have to learn java first).
5. Can anyone provide me with a simple "sample" code that atleast pulls in quotes?
Thanks guys.
PS: I'm still surprised that FF doesn't have any threads dedicated to MBT SDK.
