French manufacturing and industrial production data (-4.0% & -3.6%)

Is France the key lynch-pin in the unravelling of EU ?
I don't get into fundamentals in a big way, but I think that the EU has to be totally rebuilt and administered properly, by elected representatives. I have to agree in large part with Nigel Farage......

I have an economics and finance degree, so I am fascinated by fundamentals, but try not to let it affect my trading decisions.

I have always been sceptical of the EU project, mainly because you have policitians trying to rewrite economic theory.

Well, this isn't the correct place to 'get into it', but, imo, a 'United States of Europe', can never work. It's a nice idea, but the people of the member countries have very different cultures, languages, histories etc etc etc that there are too many differences to allow this work smoothly. At least the USA member states peoples are all 'cut from the same cloth'......even South America would stand a better chance of unity than Europe!

Can you post a chart please? It would be easier if I could see what you're seeing. From where I sit, I can't see why a UJ trade would have got stopped out.

No worries. So you entered (more or less) by the arrow? How did your SL get hit.....where was it? If it was above the previous swing high it wouldn't have been hit? Where did you place your SL?

Yeah.....I thought that was the case. It's false economy to have the SL set too close because it will get hit (nearly) every time, which is more expensive that a properly set SL getting hit once in a while. Above the last swing high would have been about -15 pips, and it would have had the added protection of being above the Daily Pivot.

With the UJ pair, and all the Yen crosses in fact, we need to be mindful of the Japan elections coming up. If Abe wins, he is very much in favour of big 'easing' by BOJ and that will mean UJ is going to go up and up and up. Even if he seems to be pulling ahead in polls, it will affect the market, so we need to take care when trading the Yen crosses.

Just made same stoploss error with AUDJPY and got stopped out by .02 of a pip....will keep an eye on elections. Sometimes my capital protection tight stoplosses is doing the opposite!!

RJ,

I've been careful with the Yen crosses today and am calling it a day now

Well, I still have one trade on EJ looking to close for a 50 pip result, going to leave it and see what happens.

Took half off the table at 20 pip point again plus AJ did me proud.

A record today, haven't touch any US crosses.

Weekly update to http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?p=6253310
for Imperatorfr, TaHui, Oxido, Jamz...
Only 1 trade this week for +164 so far.
Good to see that the drawdown was still within the expected range and we are now starting to see a nice 'best' grouping for those 'let it run' trades (157, 163, 164 & 170). The stats suggest that once we have gone past +81/+90 (as in this last trade), the door is open for 150+ as the last TP.
HI Oli, thnx for the update. I will study it more closely on the weekend with another pair.
