Hi TradeWell,

There were actually a couple of places to climb onboard along the way, using trend and support/resistance. I eventually got my daily goal and am now watching to learn. May have to take a nap, as I have been awake since 2:30am EST.

Good trading to you friend,
Ed
That's a good strategy and I have used it before. I even got up a little earlier today but still too late. More to come, just don't know when.

To Gofer Pips and others:

Are the Fib pivots the same as standard equation?

Central pivot yes. The rest is based on formulas with Fib numbers (those have been posted earlier in this thread, but you can also do a Google search for "fibonacci pivots formula").

IBFX opens 6:00pm est on Sunday, could this have an effect due to different broker openings and closings on what prices are used?

No, pivots are based on last friday's data (sunday bars aren't taken into account).

EDIT: If pivot = H+L+C/3 would my pivot be determined on Sunday as 1.3927 based on 1 hour trading from 6 til 7 when GMT= 0 again?

The close would be taken from the hourly candle at the time you have set to be as your daily open/close timezone.
The high and low would be taken from the previous 24 hour range from that candle back.

Now:

Independently of timezones (as everybody would be starting and ending the day at the same time if chosing GMT or maybe USA open/close?) the fact is that the High / Low and Close prices would have to be exactly the same also for the formula to give the same number.

For example:
My hourly candle marked 14:00 on the server at FxPro is at 13:00 on Fibo Group and Alpari, at 12:00 on Oanda (GMT), and at 9:00 on Marketiva.
FxPro close = 1.35610
Fibo Group close = 1.3560
Alpari close = 1.3563
Oanda close = 1.35622
Marketiva close = 1.3553

No need to look for highs and lows as those will most probably have differences as well, slight or huge.

Prices are not the same for each broker, thus calculations will forcefully give a different outcome, no matter if you all are taking the same 24 hour range into account.

It would be nice indeed to have the same pivot numbers exactly to the pip, but then we would have to be all using the same broker (which is an option if you decide to use the demo for the charts and trade at your own broker based on those).

However, this is not an absolute guarantee either that we will all have the same prices, I have seen 2-3 pips differences among different accounts (demo, and especially live!) on the same broker as well.

Got a nice entry to GBPUSD thanks to 1M snake.

Target is 50 PIPS

All indicators are green at the moment.

Update: Well I chickened out after 15 more minutes at exactly 22 pips.

Doblece, great detail as usual.

I can also add that the Friday close can be different for different brokers. This could affect you based on your settings for session close.

If you want to be more on the same page as everyone else, you can manually enter pivots to cover the Sunday problem from:

First of all - Thanks Cobra and everyone for sharing your experience and insights...

With last nights move, we have now had a 23.6% fib retracement. Does anyone else think another major move down is coming shortly?

Greetings,

You might find this example of how daily s/r can help our analysis of market movement when used with THV V2 interesting.

Add the hull thv that was used THV Version 1
change the settings as shown in the image.
Buy only when the hull thv is green. Sell when it is red and do not trade when it is yellow. I checked using the Simulator on days which were very bad like 10th of June etc and worked out very well.

You can check it out but I would really like Cobra to decide on this.
I just wanted to thank you for providing the spark to hopefully a great development idea. Are you using those settings for all timeframes? or one in particular?

Ecuador expects its economy to grow around 3 percent in 2009, Minister of Economic Policy Diego Borja said on Monday. - Reuters

They must have heard Cobra will be spending his 2008 profits this year.

It sounds strange that a country expect grows in a year that almost the hole world is shaking because of crisis but it might be so.

Here in Ecuador people are talking about crisis but we still don't feel it.

This country uses about 40% of theire budget from Crude oil sells and the price is pretty down.

I used the hull with those setting and it seemed quite useful; although, as Cobra mentioned, the screen is seems too crowded with two snakes...

Hi Cobra,

Coral2 looks much better, I would even like coral3. For me, the snake is star of the show.

In a previous post you mentioned:

I’m working actually on another trend filter from Damiani but that would mean that we have another indicator window on the chart. I want to avoid that and have it hidden.

Could you please share that! You can add it as an optional component. I understand the idea of simplicity but at the time when you are about to enter a trade, I need all the info that I can get.

Just my 2 cents..

Thanks again,
 WANT WHAT THE MARKET WANTS...

can someone tell me what does the thv trend indicator suppose to do. I loaded the template and don't see it in the indicator list. I tried to load it on a blank chart alone and still don't see anything.

thanks for the help.

Thanks again,
Here you go with coral thickness 3.

The trend filter isn't proved till now and I don't want to make the horses wild.

We are constantly working in the developement of the system but want to be sure before we give out another version, we have a good system that is working fine and any change could be negative if not aproved before by the team in back and forward testing.

Does anyone trade this method using IBFX charts and then trading on Oanda based on the IBFX signals? I have just opened an account at Oanda because the spreads are much lower. I have noticed there are price differences between IBFX and Oanda.
