The Far Reach of Upcoming China CPI Figures
Expectations are for inflation to have picked up in June, following a 4-month slump. The reasons for it are mostly internal, but a lot of analysts are following Chinese economic data closely to see what might happen when other economies reopen. There are differing opinions on where Chinese inflation will go for the rest of the year. Some predict deflation, others relatively steady prices, and others hyperinflation. The official BPOC analysis is for a “steady” inflation rate of around 3% average for the year. However, they do admit to expecting some fluctuation.
