Japan Unemployment Rate Rises To 3.6% In January

The jobless rate in Japan came in at a seasonally adjusted 3.6 percent in January, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said on Friday.

That missed forecasts for 3.4 percent, which would have been unchanged from the December reading.

The job-to-applicant ration dipped to 1.10 - also shy of expectations for 1.15, which would have been unchanged.

The participation rate was 59.0 percent, down from 59.3 percent in the previous month.
