    Over the past year, there has been considerable volatility in quarterly output growth. Looking through the influence of temporary factors, overall output appears to have been broadly flat. In large part that reflects sharp falls in particular sectors of the economy that are unlikely to be repeated in 2013. In contrast, the combined output of the manufacturing and services sectors has grown modestly. The weakness in overall output sits in sharp contrast to continued strong employment growth, suggesting that the financial crisis may have had some impact on the effective supply capacity of the economy. ...     • When spikes are almost equally matched in both north and south side of the chart what does it mean? Manipulation? 50 + pips to the north and then in a split second -100 pips to the south, is it irrationality?

      It means that there are a lot of trigger-happy traders out there. He has talked-down the British pound, which is good for two reasons; it will improve the prospects for exports, and it will maintain inflation at its current level because oil prices will rise - the public will moan about that.

      I would agree if we manufactured anything tangible worth exporting. We are looking at the City of London and Costa Coffee to get the country out of the mire.
