The Earnings Report had good news and what’s more, the Bloomberg analyst noted that it should rise. Well, it did, just before it crashed…with him in tow. He thought he had read his Stochastic, MACD, CCI and Bollinger Bands accurately; and of course, he still had 3 moving averages and his RSI to rely upon as well. What was wrong? And, why did he continue to lose, over and over. Had not his trading buddies told him that ... (full story)

    • Trading on indications is not taking responsibility. Indications mean nothing more than indications. You took a position, you took the risk, don't credit or blame the indications later.

    • Any retail trader must understand which way the market that you trade is being rigged intraday. This does not even mean that the big players are active, they may be waiting on the sidelines, watching the action. Very often medium size players can push the market around and build positions. Most times these position builders will use a technical metholology as simple as one moving average. If the independent trader cannot cotton onto their system/method then you are at a serious disadvantage. Thefore analyse the price action and you will eventually get close to the system being used to rig the market. The smaller the market, the easier it is to rig. Small does not mean illiquid.

    • Stochastic, MACD, CCI and Bollinger Bands, moving averages and his RSI are for educational purposes to describe market actions and reactions. They are not intended purely for trading. For trading, one must rely on his intuition, experience and luck. They must present when in a situation of making decision to enter a trade. I rely heavily on LUCK, without I wouldn't have survived any trades.

i believe that there is truth to this. i apply previous day linear regression slope from the previous day to current price action and a certain percentage of the time price trades within the outline of previous day movents. i understand this to be an expression of the proportion that vwap algos have involved in controllling price by the short period of time that price trades methodocially within previous days linear regression slope outlined and seperated by stnd. dev. - but its not persistent all of the time, meaning half, if not most the time the dominating algo/ or algos pull out for a new pattern to emerge.
