This month’s business confidence survey is an important first read on how businesses are faring in the face of growing uncertainty over prospects for the global economy, and particularly the situation in Europe. Businesses are becoming more circumspect about the general economic climate. Business confidence has fallen — the first decline in 7 months — with a net 27 percent of respondents expecting business conditions to improve over the coming year.
