I want to thank Mayor Adams for that introduction and for encouraging me to visit Portland. And thank you, Melody, for hosting this event. It is a pleasure to be here at the Portland City Club to talk about the challenges facing the American economy. How is the U.S. economy doing today? The economy is gradually getting stronger, and we have come a long way since 2008, but we still have a ways to go to repair the damage caused by the crisis.
