BOE King Speaking At Tricky Political, Policy Time
Bank of England Governor Mervyn King made four substantial policy speeches in 2009, and his first of 2010 comes on Tuesday - at a sensitive time both politically and for monetary policy. When King speaks at 1900 GMT Tuesday, it is widely expected that the latest inflation data, out at 093O GMT the same day, will have shown CPI surging to well above the BOE's 2.0% target. The central bank is also on track to finish its stg200 billion quantitative easing programme in the week beginning January 25.
